Here at Jive Media, we’ve worked with a lot of entrepreneurs over the past decade. They have been a huge inspiration to us and how we operate our business. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on the top 5 lessons we’ve learned from them.
What do you stand for? Why are you busting your butt? Define that before you do anything. It’s not a matter of if it’s when you start to wonder why you keep pushing on - remember why you started.
We all know this person. The one who is crazy busy! They are part of every committee possible, and have a ton of hobbies. That’s the person you want to be working with. You may be thinking “I don’t want to work with the busy person. They’re too busy!” Wrong. Those are the people that are willing to work hard. They have to be organized to manage that work load, and have a great network of people!
If you’re not actively working to educate yourself and grow in your industry, then you’re stagnant. You should always be learning and growing. Figure out what is trending in your industry and write a blog about it. Find a YouTube channel/podcast that you can listen to while you get ready in the mornings. Always continue learning
Stop making excuses for yourself and put in the work. Nothing gets done if you only talk about what you’re going to do. You need to stop the mouth and start the work. Excuses and wishful thinking will not pay your bills. But, taking action will.
You will learn a hell of a lot more if you just listen to your customers wants/needs. Talk with them. Learn about their pain points. Take notes and jot down important pieces from your conversation. Make your customers feel heard! When you give them a recommendation they are more likely to take it since you’ve heard them out.
